[Thursday, September 12, 2019] - Summer's not over yet! This is the motto which inspired Nelson Freitas to book the Coliseu dos Recreios stage for November 15th. As there are still two months until Mr. Magic transforms the most emblematic venue in Lisbon into the largest summer party in autumn, let's dive into "Sempre Verão", the compilation of songs now being released, gathering a handful of new songs and some of his latest singles, that have been stirring the year's warmest months.

For the architect of 'Bo Tem Mel', 'Sempre Verão' is a state of mind. Aware that the most significant moments in our lives are invariably accompanied by the right song, Nelson Freitas summoned to the studio usual accomplices like Djodje, Loony Johnson and Eddy Parker, with whom he wrote the infectious ‘Bolo Ku Pudim’, Elji Beatzkilla in ‘Xtomperod’ and Boddhi Satva in ‘Goofy’, a R&B-Tarraxo which takes us back to the summer nights at the old club Mussulo in Lisbon. He also invited new collaborators like Juan Magan in ‘Every Day All Day’, Boss AC, who produces ‘Tão Bom’ and James Francis in ‘Caminho’, a song that breathes modernity in dialogue with the new sound textures that are coming out of West Africa.

Nelson Freitas has consistently been able to expand the limits of Kizomba far beyond what is expected from the genre which calls Lisbon one of its birthplaces. Inside Ghetto Zouk's syncopated and lascivious beat, which he helped solidify with his own projects or in the several collaborations that permeate his 22-year-old career as a recording artist, there has always been space for creating bridges to other sonic landscapes. 'Sempre Verão' is no different. In the song 'Problema' a direct line is drawn from Coladera's Mindelo to Funk Carioca's Rio de Janeiro and on ’Set Me Alight' Nelson Freitas takes us to South Africa in an inebriating mix of Gqom and Afropop, produced by DJ Maphorisa with Kly sharing mic duties.

In 'Dominar' a club anthem produced by Mr.Marley, and in 'Issa Vibe' - which sees him reconnect with Jimmy P in a banger that breathes summer through every pore - Nelson Freitas brings his musical Cape Verdean roots to Puerto Rico, unifying the Cabo Sound with Reggaeton in an irresistible musical cocktail that is 'Sempre Verão' - a collection of songs that helps us hang the swimsuit and move into the winter season like we were on our way to the Algarve in July.
